DEAR SOUL-MATE

I do not believe in the kind of marriage where life is all about routines. Caring is important, and love-making is a necessity for most people. But what is more meaningful and deeper is the connection of two souls. I crave a relationship where love exists in its purest form, where I see myself in you and you in me, where you are my everything and in everything I see you. I want that love where there is no ‘you’ and no ‘I’, where there is only ‘we’.

I am the moon and you are the light. We both are darkness, but when we come together, we become light. Have you ever seen a rainbow? I am the colourless rain, and you are the white light. When you come, I become a rainbow. We are two streams joined to form the same river, and we become nothing but water-we become one.

I want that kind of love where your pain is my pain, your bliss is my bliss. Your pain burns every atom in my soul and body, and I try to bring you out of that pain. And it does not stop here. I try with my everything to bring the highest bliss for you.

Obviously, adoration and love-making are important, but they are not the only purpose of romantic love. I wish for that romantic love where you look into my eyes and get smitten, not because of my external beauty but because of the beauty of my soul, which keeps your bliss above mine.

And attention is important. Little things like getting ready in my satin dress and pearls and decking up the bedroom with roses and aromatic candles and spending a quiet time together, having a candlelight dinner with an Indo-Chinese or an Italian dish ordered from an authentic restaurant when I feel too tired to make dinner, a sudden long drive on a rainy morning, getting drenched by the waves and rolling on the sparkling sand on a beach, spending a dusk in the vineyard with guitar strings and a glass of wine, relishing coffee and snacks in an Italian café, remembering my birthday and doing something to make me feel special, maybe baking an imperfect heart-shaped cake, bringing me an umbrella when it rains, looking at me and saying, ‘beautiful’-all these keep love alive.

A selfless romantic love is what lasts forever. And this is the kind of love my soul wishes for.
