Dear Moon,
By Disha Agarwal
As approaches, the malicious night So comes my best friend in sight, Who shines, oh, so bright Despite the monstrosity, it stands beside. My only mentor, my only inspiration Standing so majestically Amidst others who are so much better, So much more experienced, so much more mighty. Yet, there he stands, Without a slip of fear. But as I sit here, I observe How it looks so white, mystic, and vulnerable.
I can’t help but wonder Why, even after all this success, Must it look so defeated and depressed? “Oh! My dear moon,” I say “Why do you look so sad and lonely?” “Oh! My dear moon,” “Why does it seem as if you’re about to cry?” “Oh! My dear moon,”
"Oh! My dear moon," "What is it that is bothering you?"
“Oh! My dear moon," “Why won’t you ever reply?” I ask the moon every day In hopes that one day A knight just as gallant as the moon Would ascend on Mother Earth And bless humanity with his guidance The knight who is as gallant as the moon, Would tell me why the moon is so glum?
But as I sit here and observe “Oh! My dear moon,” I say “I want to be like you, so bold and brave!” “But if I become as mighty as you,” “Will I become unhappy too?”
