Dear Love

By Abinaya Raj

Dear Love,

Do you recall the letters that I gave you?

The ones on which I spent hours together

Making it as perfect as I possibly could?

The ones which would make you understand me

And my feelings for you, only you?

The ones which I carefully placed in the envelope

And placed in your hands, my eyes searching

For the same feeling to be present in you too?

Dear love,

Can you return those letters to me?

For I forgot how I was full of feelings then,

With nothing left to even recall now.

Can you read them out to me?

For I hope there are still words left within me

Which I'll string together just for you.

Can you tear them apart?

For I don't think there is anything in them

If the feelings poured into them have vanished.

Or can you keep them safe?

For acting as a reminder for the unconditional love

That I once had over you.
