Dear Heart

Dear heart, you a lovely hue of crimson

I pen a missive of adoration, a reverence to your light

You thrum to each day, soar the sound of being

Infinitum that you hold, propagates far and wide

Fuzzy and warm, beating through time

You touch many alike, striking a coalesced chord

Deep are your depths, an abyss to achieve

Cherished is the insight, for when in need

Wailings so loud, you gently hush down

Susurrations of calm, sent rippling abound

Emotions akin a tempest, your altruist whisper abates

Flyby winds of fortitude, smooth surges carry ashore

Vices that snare a trap, you beseech to manoeuvre fault

Soft reminders of virtue, gentle entreats for goodness

Failings to lament, your tenderness alleviates

Upbeat rousing of the morale, the spiralling chant of endurance

Loneliness unfathomable, your kindred soul attends

Your enchanting camaraderie, makes whole and centred again

A great deal to offer, but not a morsel you ask

Only love can get you undone, shaken and just a little bit broken

But until you have fallen apart, how can you be put together again

So carry on dear heart, the journey is but long and beautiful

It starts with you, and you are in the pause

And with your last sigh, it comes to an end

This is an ode to you, Dear Heart

Dear heart, you my intimate friend

Dear heart, you my tending shepherd

Dear heart, you my steadfast captain

Dear heart, you my roaring champion

Dear heart, you remain my better part
