Daughter Of The Brave

My father is an Air Force Man

And now I have understood

Why he used to be away for months

And what it’s meant to be

Serving the nation with passion and guns.

Yes I have had a disciplined life

That taught me how to grow and be kind

It wasn’t as strict as you’ve read

It’s always been about the principles

I’ve been told and feed.

We keep on moving from place to place

And our house has numbers

Each address named as an Air Force Base

And when it’s time for a transfer

We’re ready to pack and prosper.

Every time I’ve to leave, my heart would cry

It’s hard to let my friends know

And say them goodbye

But I have to leave the places behind

And take the memories in my heart and mind.

When I was small I never knew

Why the nation needs to be protected

Or, why it needed a crew

And from whom to be guarded

So, when he used to go on a mission

I would cry to ask him to come

In any condition.

I knew of course

My dad is doing a tough job

And when I see him dressed in blue

My eyes with pride will be on him glued

While the stars on his sleeves

Gives him more shine

We always pray for him to be fine.

I watched how mom would worry

When he would be away

And there is no news of him for days

But she wears a brave smile

And wash off the worries from her face.

My dad has taught me “all are equal”

I’ve friends of different creed and culture

We love to celebrate all the festivals

We’ve shared our lunches

And have a home everywhere.

Our soldiers are great

And they would put their life at stake

I’m proud to say

I’m the daughter of the brave.
