Dance With The Devil

By Nishika Tyagi

I am the walker of the dark alley

And you dared to follow me.

It’s Burned cigarette smoke

not your cloud’9 dreamy fog.

In the part of city,

noble men avoid to visit,

you came running barefoot

just to have one look

at my rugged scars?

or my rotten heart?

what have you brought,

in order to trade?

We are rats of the gutter

only know how to take.

Of your steps be sure

you’ve hooked my attention,

you’re aware of your desire

I sense it in your actions.

I owe you this dance

for you’ve come so far

looking for something

that can rip you apart.

With no fright you are

moving so elegant,

sweeping the grey silk dress

across mud as we dance.

Are you aware,

of price to be paid?

‘For dance with the devil

And you can’t leave’ it is said.

When melody fades

you bow with these words

‘I looked for you sir

to burn lights in our world

I’ll tell you why

this dance is transcendent

something so wild and yet scared

because inside I am darker instead.’
