Curtained Boundaries
By Ankur Das
I wonder what if the transparency
prevailed from glasses to humanity.
Every connection is perpetually clear
with no shadows hidden in the dark.
The curtain of privacy breathes
making it easier for bonds to endure.
I wonder if the parents knew
what their teenage kids went through.
Every night haunted by anxieties
erasing traces of gloom until dawn.
The curtain of the generation gap
clasp peace in the glass house of "home".
I wonder if the teacher noticed
what hurt the public insult had caused.
Every day mocked by the fellow mates
broke the big ego of these little kids.
The curtain of decorum maintained
silence of screaming hurt in walls, four.
I wonder if the employer inferred
what it takes to work in a toxic race.
Every growth achieved by colleagues
made us believe in false complimenting.
The curtain of hope of good existed
letting us continue the hustle for more.
I wonder if the partner recognized
what ugly secret had hidden for ages.
Every passing night of successful hiding
helped to hide molestation marks more.
The curtain of character certified
abusive past to hide in draping cloth.
The curtain swirls sleekly in bonds
what if they were pulled up someday.
Each boundary, braced since ages, will fall
letting emotions retreat and anguish attack.
The curtains drawn to sustain bonds
will now lie torn, shattering the walls.
