Curse

By Keertana Saji

Who are we to assume?

Stuck in the darkness of this world from the black and white we painted with our strokes. Afterall, isn’t love the route to all insanity?

A love so dear, your heart cries, not knowing of pain or joy.A love so dear, your eyes bleed, not knowing to who the blood be. A love so dear, your ears taste melodies, dancing to the rhythms. A love so dear, your feet feel no more, not the sounds nor the grounds.

A love of such, what would we do if we had it? What would we do if it was forbidden? “Let’s run away,” I would say. What if we can’t? What if…the world was against us?

“Die”

If I were in love with you…If I am in love with you, I will let the ocean swallow me whole.

You will let the world call you a killer of the one you once loved. For I will wish to die, but only by your hands, to pass on with your eyes on my last breath.

‘Gone be the fool to ride to their own death’, we say. Oh, but the curse, it won’t let me fly another way. Oh, you’re immortal, and so shall I become, to be with you.

You and me,We kneel before the throne woven of curses by the ones who’ve loved. Each thread pulled tight with longing; each gem inlaid with desire.

In this world of two, I will choose to die and stay with you.I choose to dive to my ruin and wait for your whispered footsteps, wait as they guide me to the place

The place with only you and me.

So, who am I to assume, Icarus was a fool?
