Cry me a river

Cry me a river

A river of tears an ocean’s worth.

Cry me a river

A river of tears for all the hurt.

A cool wave comes and wraps around my feet

It plays around, dancing to my heart’s beat.

Then it turns into a torrent so steep

And drags me down to an empty, dark, deep.

A hand reaches down to help me through

The voice rings in my ear like music on cue,

But then the music fades his part in the play done

He lets me go, to blow in the wind and burn in the sun.

Dark clouds roll in from times long past

My parched skin welcomes its touch.

Flashes of brilliant light, deafening thunder

My world rains around me soothing my lust.

But the wind carries the clouds away

The rain ceases and silence reigns.

The dull echo of my voice unheard

The silent beat of my heart unwanted

The tears that burn my eyes unseen

I am left with nothing more around me.

So cry me a river

A river of tears an ocean’s worth

Cry me a river

For when the lights dim and the drama is played

All I am, is alone.
