Cretin
By B Chandran
Gliding by flickering lights
I find myself free in flight.
There’s nobody in near sight.
I feel my spirits rising.
The wind blows left, shadows right.
Walking alone is no plight.
Footsteps follow, but know my might.
Stars above know I am king.
Never got why some fear the night.
Scoff those ready for a fight.
Do they see invisible plight
Despite my bling?
They fear the shadows in sight
And pick up pace to reach light.
It cheapens them and the night
To not care for this beauty.
What’s to fear? Why walk tight?
Those men would never bite.
Knives always shine at night
At the sight of rich wings.
