CRADLES TO COFFINS

Tears and joy muffled in a bundle, rocking in devoted hands,

A tiny soul grooming, flourishing in bits, with a future at command.

Decades to learn, a life to thrive with clinking money bags,

Crawling towards a quiet place, leaving behind the riches and rags.

Myriad miles, directed with tiny, innocent steps,

An iffy journey, unaware of uncertain ends.

Then, surrounded with quietly lit candles and aromatic wreaths,

The final lone journey, with an unknown neighbour at rest.

Mind meanders towards the roaring sea and the crushing, perilous waves,

That eerie place, a haunting hush and untold tales by the vast graves.

A lone bloom here, in a memory of someone dear, at the final rest,

A place to settle - with no hounds following and no more lingering quest.
