Conversation By The River

The river water gently laps against the bank— — — —

The swaying ripples seep into the sandy striations. Unfolding. Folding. Unfolding. Yawning. Smiling. Glancing. Inward. Outward.

The minuscule ridges and curves on my palm

Brush against the unevenness of the concrete wall

On which we sit

Me and you

Exchanging words, glances, smiles

A conversation among friends

An attempt to somehow between each sway of the waters—

To drift into a moment where the textures

That separate us fade

Reflecting the melding of the sky and the river

In one continuous white

Unstriated

Unrestrained

Understood.
