Contemplation
By Ashni Kankate
The voices in my head.
They don't stop.
Ever.
Not While I lie down willing my brain to stop working it's gears and embrace sleep.
Not even while I'm in the shower, making me late for the day that I already wasn't looking forward to.
Not while I'm standing on the Dias with an array of eyes looking up at me, judging my silence with confused and smug looks.
Not while I walk places, when you look at me weirdly, deem me to be mentally challenged
As I move about supposedly gesturing and talking to invisible people.
They go on and on and on relentlessly, making existence in the NOW impossible.
I'll let you on a little secret though, sometimes I zone out, sometimes I put a mute on you and the World and the voices become more defined, my very own high definition.
And they're still better than the drivel that the world throws at me.
I still prefer them to your meaningless chatter as you go on and on about your daily inconsequential reality when you could be listening to the incredible voices in my head contemplating the existence of the universe.
And you know what, I find that the voices are what I live on and what I live for.
Because I find them to be at sync with what is right and amazing and beautiful about the world;
Unlike reality.
Yours and mine.
