Cocktail With A Straw
By Preeti Kaur Bharj
That night she cried, the whole night, howling,
Loud and silent, yet, she made sure her tears
Dries by the dawn of another day. She stood up,
Emotionless, she put her best dress on, her face
Beautifully baked, she hides her flaws.
She saw the devil on her way out,
Disguised as goddess her reflection smirked
In the mirror's view, she wore her highest heels,
Decked and qued, she prepared herself for death.
Her childhood died, her demon launched,
With the dagger stabbed at her back,
Her innocence was killed, the thunder glazed,
She was sipping cocktail with a straw.
She snapped her finger to the man,
Like wolf lurking around the corner,
She slept and slept and let them
Touch her countless nights until
She forgot his touch. With that she let
Her kindness go, and love became a myth to her,
Years later you'll find her sipping a cocktail with a straw.....
