Closet

I would sink in my bed alone , after a long day ,

Facing away from my closet , yet accepting it's presence,

Getting inside my rug , comforted in it's laundered essence,

A childish gesture indeed but my heart needed to be assured ,

I covered myself to feel secluded & secured .

I was safe from the world outside & everything was fine,

Even the most decisive questions had to wait in line ,

Some thoughts didn't stop their invisible dance ,

Sometimes they would crawl & sometime prance .

I forced them into my closet , far from myself

As frightening as it was , the closet was in the same room as myself.

The most riveting , of all things apart,

The closet was locked from the start ,

The lock had no key , forsaken or lost

I don't remember & somehow it didn't matter , at no cost .

The thoughts leapt through the withered doors about to rupture,

The lock held strong of the collapsing structure ,

Every thought entered the closet with a creak ,

The unpleasant sound would let go a tear & force me to take a peek ,

I would immediately turn away , neglecting the tear & noise ,

Seeking my peace and poise .

I haven't gathered the courage to open the closet ,

No not yet,

Maybe someday I'll let go of the closet or simply throw it away instead,

But for that I've to decide the closet is in my room or my head ?
