One little window with an iridescent sheen.

The house is set in a forest green.

“The vibe it has is unknown yet so known.”

The brunette outside thought with a frown

“The house could be a trap with no cures

But it draws me near just like home allures.

Oh! So sweet, cozy, and warm altogether.

The coffee aroma and lawns with heather.

Should I knock or should I go?

Leaving would be such a waste though.”

Muffled steps followed three knocks on the door.

Welcomed the smiley figure, hands covered with floor.

“Aww, my sweetheart, how are you?

Granny missed you. Did you too?”

“No doubt!” said the grandchild.

Hugged the duo and fondly smiled.

“Come inside, have your favourite brew.

Look how gorgeous my princess grew.”

“It’s been so long since last we met,

You know, I topped my class and brought a pet?

I missed your presence, especially on my first bake

And on my birthday when I was cutting the cake”

“My little baby, trust me that I know it all.

How beautifully you decorated the photo wall,

When you stumbled and got a scratch,

But played regardless and won the match.”

“Then why did you leave and say goodbye?

When the stars shone and black became the sky?”

“My child, goodbyes don’t last forever,

They don’t mean it’s all over.

People may come and people may go

Sometimes it’s warm, sometimes it’s snow

Just because you can’t see me all time,

It doesn't mean Christmas bells don’t chime.

I am alright, always watching over you.

I see you and smile, and so should you.

I know the memories and longing makes you tear up

You whimper silently, but I want you to cheer up

Not telling you it’s bad or don’t express.

Just try to smile more and lessen the stress.

Moving on isn’t leaving behind the old memories,

It’s being at peace with learnings from past stories.

You feel you lost me, but have you, really?

Do you forget I’m a part of you and you of me?”

“You’re right Granny, you never went away.

I now realise that the people we love, always stay.

No goodbyes can overpower the bond we share.

I don’t need to ask to confirm that you care.”

They hugged again and felt at peace.

The child let go while holding on with ease.

Sat up straight, the girl from a dream-filled sleep.

The dream that had conversations so deep

“What happened sweetie, you’re up already?

Missing Granny? Do you want your teddy?”

“Granny visited me or the other way round

In my dream, her adobe I found”

“Really! The heavens must be pretty, I suppose.”

“Don’t know about the heavens, but I know she’s close.”
