City At Dusk

As the velvet dusk drapes around me

And the cold wind ruffles a tree

I sit atop this concrete forest

And observe the city below at rest

There's blissful quiet all around

Save for the occasional musical sound

The song of birds in joyous flight

Guided to their nest by the dying light

From here, the world seems so at peace

All of my worries seem to cease

My mind is starting to rest, at last

And I think not of my troubled past

The setting sun casts a dull, red glow

And a mosque sounds the azaan below

The steps back home, I must re-tread

For they wait for me, my kindred
