Christmas Musings

Would the world be different

If it was Christmas all year round

If fairy lights lit up the darkness,

Silence cut by bells' merry sound.

Would people look at each other

With a little more love in their eyes

Listened to each other's secrets

With a lot more empathy inside.

If the smell of cinnamon spice

Wafted gently through the air,

Maybe forgiveness would be easier

Maybe we would genuinely care.

Would the fire crackling merrily

Melt even the stone cold hearts

Would the cheesy Christmas movies

Carry over into reality at last

True compassion and kindness

In every corner will be found

Maybe the world would be better

If it was Christmas all year round.
