Choosing Life Over Love

Is this feeling normal to have? People claim love hurts at times. Personally, I feel that true love is based on mutual understanding. It means consoling each other's feelings—not through self-abuse, but by letting time heal a wounded heart. I feel it is not worth the time brooding over past love. Life is never made entirely of roses; it has its bitter tangerines, too.

My personal experience with the opposite sex was painful. I was falsely accused and turned into the enemy of someone I admired by a tactful friend who also liked them—a friend who turned out to be an enemy in disguise. That individual retaliated with hurtful words that degraded my self-pride. I never argued back, but words are sharper than a sword.

To protect myself, I became guarded. The wound inflicted on me still aches, but life is too short to let past sorrows haunt me. Yes, it hurts, but choose to cherish one fact: love is a four-letter word, and so is life. Choose life over love, and give your heart the time it requires to heal.

I still feel hurt when I recall what happened, but at least nowadays I don't cry. I focus on the bright side of life. Every moment I spend on my own is worth a million dollars because I am happy just being alive, surrounded by truthful friends and family members who genuinely love me. So, I catch a falling star and wish for past sorrows to be left behind, letting happiness cherish my heart.
