Chasing A Dream

Waited for nine whole months

With hopes and desires in their heart

Welcomed their little prince

Giving their life fresh new start

He opened his eyes for the first time

Saw happy faces all around him

All the merry voices could be heard

Only good vibes in surrounding

His journey had already begun

His fate was already decided

Born to fulfill their desires

To make sure their wishes were granted

Took the first step in life

And the competition's unfolding

"Did you learn to walk real quick

Or were you slow from beginning"

At the age where he doesn't even know

What is dreaming

He was running in this race of

Dream chasing

Soon he was going to school

In game of grades he was entering

Doesn't matter that he's giving his best

"But are you better than the rest?"

Everyone's comparing

"Study hard and get good marks

Then secure a job that pays you a lot.

Do all of this if you want a happy life"

That's what he's always been told

People's word now playing with his mind

Can't make out right from wrong

Trying to detangle all that's twined

Juggling up with his own thoughts

So believing what everyone said

Forward he's marching

Still continuing this race

Of dream chasing

Comes the next chapter of life

It is then, when he starts wondering

"I did all that I was asked to

But doesn't feel like am really living."

"I turned out successful

With huge balance in my bank account

But am I even happy?

Is this what life's all about?"

With time he had, almost been spent

Now he starts questioning

"Was it even my dream

That I was so blindly chasing"

Recalling back his life

Trying to find moments to be cherished

But running through his mind

Are the memories of how he perished

His eyes now open for the last time

Everyone saw in them, a sad gleam

Remembering how he wasted his life

Relentlessly chasing a dream.
