CAUTIONARY TALE.

In hindsight, my vision is immaculate, all my solutions feel up to date,

It often turns on me making me feel inadequate, like it was such a crime to stay up so late,

Then comes the need to disattach from everything you know and emancipate, usually I’m a catch, but I’m not feeling up to bait,

You see, these and more are just things that I inoculate, I keep them to myself so that I can operate.

For safety, I quickly dive back to when I last felt adequate, away from the demons screaming ‘I am hate!”

A moment later, this place feels better. I can even handle an earthquake,

That’s why I didn’t flinch when you texted ‘I am late.”

I’m sorry I let you go through that alone. That was my worst mistake; I’m such a foolish mate; instead, I chose to lie and wait,

Funnier still is how when you left, I missed a few breath intakes; nowadays, everything in tow feels kind of fake.

I’ve been on this long road accumulating luggage; as time proceeds, preoccupied by everything, I think it’s about time that I desired nothing.

I’ve tried acting like a balanced diet, but maybe I’m just roughage; all along, all alone in the sea of pain, I was hoping you’d say something,

I know it sounds like a miracle, but your love can cure suffrage, like the moments I find you looking at me and your turn away blushing,

I wish we crawled a while before we took flight like the old adage, I’d rather hold your hand if it all must come down crushing.

It’s ‘last call, ‘and all the lovers are taking their leave; the quicksand has no end, and they can’t recall the point of its beginning,

This last shot contains everything that I believe; losing is a pre-requisite to any amount of winning.

This love means so much to me. Even as my footing begins to give, the cherished memories plague my conscience without meaning,

So I swallow the bitterness in the present in a single heave; the congregation is gone, however, you’ll find me here when you desire leaning.
