Candle Light

A tiny flame begins to rise,

A golden glow beneath the skies;

It starts so small, yet shines so bright,

A little warm within the night.

The wax is young, the flame is new,

With endless things it still can do;

It burns, it grows, it learns to shine,

As passing moments fall in time.

The flame grows tall, the years move on,

It faces winds from dusk to dawn;

It bends, it shakes — yet still it stays,

And slowly burns through all its days.

The wax grows thin; the flame burns low,

But all it gave still seems to glow;

Each scar, each tear, each passing year

Becomes a life that once was here.

And then one day, the flame grows small,

A final flicker, then no more at all.

The smoke rises softly through the air,

Carrying the warmth it once shared there.

The candle ends, but not the life

That shaped the dark, that fought the night

For every soul that felt its glow

The light remains.
