Caged Bird
I saw a bird
Fly past my window
And I the caged soul
Stilling my restlessness
As I peered through rimmed lenses
At this winged wonder
Roaming at leisure
Searching, searching,
Constantly searching ...
I saw a bird
Fly past my window
And I the ignited soul
Awakened from the ash
Reaching out to grasp the hope
Of this minuscule spark
That promises liberty
Finding, grasping
Clutching.
