But Who Are You?
By Pallavi Krishna
I once wondered how I spoke and sang
Who am I when no one’s looking?
Like a bell in my head a thought rang
What is it that I am seeking?
Many a whimsical desire
Shadow the surface like a beautiful art
Fighting a battle of bias
Mind lost to the depths of my heart
Eyes calmly shutting down the light
Like a leaf softly falling to the ground
Forbid the world one sound to quiet
Set on a journey to be spellbound
Like setting free an army of might
My breath carefully took charge
Witnessing the power to lose foresight
The trance and the present enlarged
There opened a world in that moment
With its light so immense and void so diverse
A place where you are neither a visitor nor inherent
Just you – You are the universe.
