Broken Hearts And Promises
By Syed Mohammad Ismail Quli
In the depth of my heart, a betrayal seeps,
The wound so raw, so painful it creeps,
The one I trusted and loved so deep,
Has left me in a heap, in tears that weep.
The promises we made, now broken and shattered,
The love we shared, now tarnished and battered,
The trust we built, now forever tattered,
As I try to pick up the pieces that scattered.
The pain of betrayal cuts like a knife,
The heartbreak so deep, it feels like a strife,
The one I loved has caused such a rife,
And left me in a world without any life.
How could you do this, my heart cries out,
To someone you promised to care about,
The love we had was what we were devout,
But now it's gone, forever in doubt.
The weight of the betrayal is so heavy,
The emotions so raw, it feels so deadly,
As I try to make sense of this love that's unsteady,
The pain of heartbreak seems forever steady.
But even though you've left me in despair,
I'll rise above the pain and repair,
And find love that's true and beyond compare,
And leave behind this love that's so unfair.
So here I am, with a heart that's broken,
Trying to make sense of love that's unspoken,
As the reality of our love becomes a token,
Of a love that's now forever awoken.
But even though our love is now no more,
The memory of it I'll always adore,
And the sadness of betrayal forevermore,
Is a reminder of a love that's now folklore.
