Broken-Hearted Fool

I close my eyes,

My breath is shallow,

And in the darkness,

I do swallow,

Every ounce of trust

That I once did pride on,

Now ripped right out of my heart,

All of it gone.

The reason eludes me,

So does my consciousness.

I chastise myself,

I knew I should have cared less.

The pain, it

constricts my breathing.

And in words,

It’s hard to explain what I’m feeling.

Broken-hearted fool.

That’s what I’m reduced to.

Trusted more than I should have,

If only, I had kept it to a few.

This too shall pass,

I strongly believe.

I’ll be happy once again,

These scars will heal.
