Broken, Again.
By Sera Grace John
Crawling on four legs
Dribble down my double chin
The spider spun his yarn
Broken a thousand times over
Broken, again.
Back from school on a Monday
Papa left in a loaded Audi
Mama's pendant on the carpet, broken.
A bond broken, they said
She called it a bondage
Playing hopscotch in the park
I sped to save a Robin's egg,
A life, from being broken
Instead, gravity pulled me down
My bones were broken
Looking up at the skies
To escape the broken realities
The clouds were no different from
Broken China clay in water
Broken, like humans and their habitat
Building blocks, glue, staplers
Tapes, needles, sutures, cement
Apologies or therapists
Cannot heal the history of
Broken hearts, homes or humans
For the world is a broken place
And you and I are shards
Fixing our own fractures
Only to be broken
Broken, again.
