Brave The Crave

Up from bed to hear the clock strike six,

reminiscing yester night’s whiskey kicks.

Brought me joy, in that I had little less

than enough to get through the genesis.

The fast continued without a break,

Until the liquid lunch like a hake.

Vigourless and afloat, like the so-called walking dead,

Staggering footsteps, lifeless and red-faced.

You can’t handle your drinks said someone,

It taught me more than a lesson.

Abstinence was hard to come by.

When it did, nothing could stop the intensity.

All seemed to fall in place and past sins forsaken.

Strained threads loosened, a whole new formation.
