BODYSHAMING
Original Submission by Nicole
BODY SHAMING.
I’ve been holding my stomach in for so long,
Don’t even notice I’m doing it anymore,
The need to starve so very strong,
Can only wonder what else life has in store.
I workout 5 to 7 days a week,
Can’t seem to think about anything,
Other than how can I be this weak,
Or what to the table do I seem to bring.
I wonder if this will ever change,
Because this feeling is no longer strange,
Don’t think I can live this way,
Counting calories day by day.
I wake up hating my body,
Scared that there’s nothing that can make it better,
If I’m not happy and skinny, quiet and pretty,
Would I even matter?
Hate being hungry when I go to sleep,
Biting my tongue so much it’s gonna bleed,
Losing all the tears that I have to weep,
Bearing the fruit of my seed.
Walk over me and I take it so politely,
Cause I still care what you think and if you like me,
Being everything that makes me sad,
The desire to eat and not feel bad.
Swear I’m gonna scream but noone’s ever listening,
They don’t even care that it’s me they’re killing,
They don’t even care that I’m shouting and screaming,
Because they’re getting what they’ve been wanting and wishing.
Trying to be small,
I lose my ability to stand tall,
By day and by skyfall,
I’m killing myself and I don’t think it’s helping at all,
I’m killing myself and I don’t think it’s healthy at all,
Being at your every beck and call,
Needing to be small.
