Blushed Black
By Daniel Helman Lee
The sky smiles bright in radiant light.
With shades of dawn her cheeks she stains,
The sky blushed black once cameth night.
The morning wakes and stirs alive
And tilts the mirror to her face:
The sky smiles bright in radiant light.
When twilight comes and dusk ignites
For the dark she tensely waits;
The sky blushed black once cameth night.
She rises high to see the sights
And crafts a beam to greet the day,
The sky smiles bright in radiant light.
The thunder pounds. The lightning strikes.
She’s rinsed in tears of pouring rain,
The sky blushed black once cameth night.
The sky seems drained of all her fight.
She picks a brush, her bruise she paints:
The sky smiles bright in radiant light
Yet sky blushed black once cameth night.
