BLACK BOYS BARE- Asanda.

You stand in front of the mirror

With shards of your fragile masculinity scattered at your feet.

Your—flimsy—armour was shattered by a butterfly.

You scramble,

Cut your hands in your haste to pick up the broken pieces

But shards turn to sand and it slips through your fingers like water

And you're an open wound, bare and vulnerable and hurting

Tears like bubbling streams—free at last!—trail the contours of your face and slowly you your skin stitches itself back together

When the dawn (finally) comes its light refracts off the glittering sand piled at your feet and you are bathed in pink
