BETWEEN BREATHS

I am not falling apart,

I am wearing thin.

Like a thread pulled too many times

And still expected to hold.

I miss the days when my life

Had corners I could lean against

Routines that caught me,

Voices that knew my name

Before I had to explain myself

Now everything moves,

And I am dizzy trying to keep up.

Sleep feels like the only mercy,

Not because I want to disappear,

But because waking costs more than I have to give.

Anxiety has learned my language,

It speaks through my stomach,

My chest,

My nights that refuse to end quietly.

It tells me I am too much,

Then punishes me for needing anything at all.

I reach for people,

Then pull my hands back

Afraid my pain will spill onto them, Afraid love will feel like debt.

I am tired of being brave.

Tired of “coping.”

Tired of fighting something

That lives inside my own breath.

But somewhere under the exhaustion There is still a pulse

That hasn’t given up

Just paused,

Waiting for gentleness,

Waiting for something steady to return.

I don’t need everything to be fixed. I just need the world to stop shaking For one moment so I can rest

Without fear
