Wait for this wave to roll

Stay until these bells mourn

The wraiths knocked in my dreams

Keep me safe in yesterday

Are mountains hiding the bright yellow sun?

Are palm trees bending their leonine leaves?

Awkward angles to shoo this day

Now all is abstract, broken but bears more weight

Traveling back on well-worn roads

Greeted by sorrow, embraced by joy

Bathed in wonder and awe of it all

And a wish flies to the unmoving stars

Fate would not flourish us a spare

The clouds do not chalk that pattern again

And time has no chariot to loan

All that remains is all we will need

Like old books that never gather dust

Gently sifted through, pages threaded back

Fondness inscribed in every wear

Memories chime with our laughter and tears

Whispered farewells echo loudest

When carried to the heart of a hug

The boat has docked and waters calm

But keep me safe in yesterday
