Before Time Flies Away

Expectations hurt, they say,

I dream of being somewhere far away

In the mountains, among the trees

Irked by nothing but insects and bees

This solitude is an escape

Between here and another reality, a drape

What if there’s a difference between

How you envision me and my own dream?

Or is it just that I don’t understand

Are my dreams just so below my potential

Are they just very bland?

Expectations hurt, they say,

Maybe it’s just easier to forget

Than to take the drape away

Expectations hurt, they say,

I hope I realise what I want

Before time flies away
