Before I Delete A Picture
By Barsha Priyadarshini
All through the days indulged in happy times
I often catch hold of the pictures
Clicked and saved as,
A visual memoir to my memories
Only to cherish those times years after on a random Saturday
When I find myself peeping again at the flashes of my past I left long behind
Sliding into the phone's gallery to search for something I would never find.
I remember very little,
Like the wooden embers who never forget the scorching flames it once burnt from
Or the unforgotten taste of the first sip from a botte of old rum.
I remember very little, I deleted those pictures
Only to forget the one, I captured the pictures with.
They were a lot of them I was unwanted like those pictures did.
Soon after they were deleted permanently,
with an excuse of insufficient storage and poor image quality.
I have ample storage available since then
With memes and lecture notes replacing them.
I even have pictures of mine a few with pale lips where no smile brew.
My camera hasn't seen me press the capture button in a while.
And here I am, On a random Saturday
Having fled to a serene corner of my room
Looking at my phone with a hope
To find atleast one picture of us,
I might have skipped and forgotten to delete.
