Because I Deserve A Slow Romance

Cloudy mornings,

Rainy evenings,

Me sitting between your legs,

You braiding my hair crookedly.

The patter of raindrops on our window sill,

Me mesmerized by your allure,

Coffee mug in one hand,

The other intertwined with yours.

Sitting on the window facing futon,

With a book balanced on your lap,

Looking handsome like the first time I saw you,

Wearing the worn t-shirt of your favourite band.

Holding my hand while crossing the street,

Shading me from sun's direct heat,

Managing my midnight cravings,

You cared for me a lot.

They said I should hurry up,find a man

But my heart knew I deserved a slow romance,

The kind where he puts me before him,

The kind in which love blossomed from within.

The kind where silences were comfortable,

The kind where hugging you or just touching your hand felt intimate,

The kind where I can hug you tight and urge you to stay,

The kind where every peck had something to say.

The kind where we can communicate through our eyes,

The kind where cooking together was intimate,

The kind which flowed like a river, effortlessly,

The kind which is infinite.

And I found you,

Sitting at the table in the library,

Engrossed in one of my favourite books,

Sharing my sanctuary.

There was a spark,

A difference so stark,

From all the other guys,

I met once, maybe twice.

And the rest is history,

Even now, I can't solve the mystery,

Of how I manifested that love,

In your form, a man handsome and strong.
