Society is a great chain of human relationships where thousands and millions of people
live with different abilities. In his own place, where every skilled and talented person belonging
to different profession has a special and unique position in society, the teacher related to
teaching profession is also highly respected. As we know that the establishment of a civilized
human society has not come into existence automatically, but for the construction of this
society, removing illiteracy and establishing the atmosphere of knowledge and awareness is
necessary and in this connection, obviously we cannot ignore the importance of the teacher in
the construction and creation of such an environment. The importance of the teacher in the
society is very important to express and transfer knowledge and awareness not only to the
present but also to the future generations.
The four basic elements for an ideal teacher are:
High Intelligence: The intelligence of the teacher is very important in determining the new
method of education and setting learning standards. A good teacher transmits the attitude of
thinking and curiosity in the student by brings his knowledge and ability through his writings,
speech and realistic experiences that are highly related to education. The high intelligence of a
teacher does not mean that he should have a high degree of education, but it is condition that
entities a person to the position of a teacher. In fact the essential thing in a teacher is that in
terms of education, his intelligence and ability should be comprehensive in details and well
established in depth. His thoughts and ideas with respect to education, his perspective should
be high rather than obsolete. His art of teaching should be very good and satisfying. His
conscience should be academically active and free from boredom and in this educational detail
the part that will be missed in the life of teacher will be left incomplete in educational
development of student. The intelligence of a teacher is actually a combination of those
abilities in the teacher by means of which he recognise the secret power of talent, spirit and
potential in a student and tries to develop him on the path on which he is expected to have a
bright future and bringing educational maturity in the students mind, the teacher transfer an
particular attitude of curiosity and thoughts with his academic power and by this he made the
student aware of every method, every observation and every experiment and in this way the
student becomes academically self-sufficient in the field of knowledge, and of course, going
forward one day he becomes prominent scholar and researcher of nation.
The right way of teaching: A good teacher is not bound by blind imitations but has some
principles in hand which he himself develops as an educator and the art of his teaching remains
always simple but unique and this helps the student in creating a good interest in education
and academic curiosity. The best teacher present any subject in the curriculum be it scientific,
literary, social, political or moral in a way that students really enjoy and not became bored.
Before teaching, the teacher creates an academic atmosphere in accordance with the subject
provide hints and other metaphors and difficult words are tried to explain with good examples
which made the leaning easy for students. A good teacher while explaining answer to the
question does not limit the scope of the answer only to the syllabus, but also increase the
knowledge of the student by bringing all those relevant questions which are outside the subject
in lesson. But it is also unfortunate that sometimes we see the teacher limits the answer only to
the extent of syllabus and student not learn then properly and when the examinee takes the
question out of depth of subject and asks the student to answer it, he became unable to
answer. The second thing is language aspect and the teacher should take care of the language
while teaching as the ability to understand the student in their mother language is not possible
with any other language. This is a reason that when an intellectual, scholar or writer presented
his creation writing, lecture or speech before the people, he proffered and tried his own
language.
Personal life of teacher: The personal life of teacher cannot be ignored as he is considered
the architect of nation. In fact the student’s path of success is determined by teacher. The daily
workings of teacher in school or out of school and his behaviour, manners and actions are
actually education to student. Therefore, it is important that the ideas of the teacher should be
good in values and teacher cannot be expected to make such a mistake that leaves a negative
massage on the behaviour of students. A teacher’s life is watched by his students and therefore
should be interesting and inspiring. Unfortunately, some teachers sometimes show obvious
signs with respect to their profession and it feels that they are ignorant of their profession. For
this reason, the personal life of teacher that is relevant to students should also be simple and
attractive and his main aim should be focus on the future of the students. With the best
companionship of a teacher, the student reaches his goal and if the student becomes bound to
unethical behaviour, he becomes so only when the teacher pays no heed in his education or
training. The teacher is like a tree whose fruits are his students and whatever the tree is in its
effectiveness the same will be found in it too and similarly if the teacher is full of wisdom then
of course the students will also looks same.
The responsible teacher is always concerned about the future of students. He always
want his students in class and on seeing someone absent he tries to search him and sometimes
helps poor students of his class so that he remain connected with education as such teacher is
aware of the value of education.
Avoid private Tuition: The private tuition not only lead to the deterioration education
system in schools and colleges but has also affected the standard of intelligence and
competence of the student. The private tuition on one hand has created an obstacle for
students to understand their studies, on the other hand, it has also eliminated the mental
capacity of thinking, and examining and experimenting which would have provide students the
opportunity to think on their own on any subject and try to find answers like why, how and
when. The maximum curiosity about anything teaches the basic nature of that thing and it does
not take long to explain the truth of that subject but this intellectual attitude of curiosity does
not develop in the student when this is taken away from him by private tuition. An excellent
teacher teaches students in schools and colleges in such a way that he does not feel the need
for private coaching or tuition and by doing so the teacher does not allow education to be
overshadowed by wealth.
Therefore, while appointing any person a teacher, one should pay special attention to
his intelligence and ability and ensure the basic factors are present in him or not otherwise, it
would be simply the distribution of wealth than appointing a teacher as we saw in some
previous schemes.
