Balloon Dreams
By Daniel Helman Lee
He sits on a chipped moon eating chunks of glimmering darkness.
He looks around at stained skies and shattered stars;
He says hello to Little Dipper
Then dips in darkness a little deeper,
His fingers trail
A veil of weightless clouds;
He gazes down
And sees
Vibrating moonlight gliding
On glassy seas.
He prances over pockets of hope floating aimlessly in the sky,
And springs across, from West to East, to sit on budding sunrise:
The sun blooms with lips of rose,
She alchemize’ dawn, lead to gold,
Her sunlight beams
Like strings, to rope
The Earth,
To pull with her
The weight of the world
And bring to light
Leaked dreams
Of human beings.
And he, a dream-catcher, ropes the floating dreams
And glides down to Earth, swinging on sun-strings
To return leaked dreams
Back to dreamers, who’d let them escape
Like
Floating
Balloons,
In slumbered sleep.
