ASK A DYING MAN ABOUT LIFE

A wall clock,

Strikes twelve twice.

I sit down,

watching it do so thrice.

The clacking and clanking

of things oblivious to me,

the only sounds

I commonly see.

The engines attached

with long, thin threads,

Piercing through

the last bits of my exterior,

Tearing it into shreds.

Upon glancing down,

I see the blue,

That once had been whole,

As pretty as bloom.

Emerging from oblivion,

I hear a creak.

The mortal begins to invade,

Their findings quietly speak.

She looks upon my weary form,

Her sorrow-filled gaze,

As if asking the third,

To let me linger in its grace.
