Ashes To Ashes Dust To Dust

The thuds from the fall

of the ripe palms

from the lone tree

by the still pond

overlooking my calm quarter

brings a faint joy

of an unexperienced kind.

Twice or thrice now-a-days

my ears catch the sound

their touching the bare ground--

once caught one such orb's declaration

before its coming to final rest

in the semi-darkness

of the tranquil evening.

With a novel and jerking surprise

it did suddenly remind--

tranquil indeed we all become

sombre, composed and also calm

basking in the old delights

yet, preparing slowly and secretly

for the final and divine call.
