As You Fade

You tease from my not so distant past,

A vague reminder of what we could be.

A stranger not so unfamiliar,

A soft rhythm in my memory.

Happiness, I found in that rhythm that played,

A song of passion and melody.

A song I thought, would never end,

A song that ended so suddenly.

This song brought me joy,

This song brought me sorrow.

It brought me pain, when I thought there’d be no tomorrow.

It made me feel things,

It made me ponder.

This song made me do things,

For someone I didn't really matter.

It makes me sad,

This song I sang,

This song started by you and me.

But like all song it speaks its note,

And fades away into infinity.
