Artwork By Radhika

I wanted to capture what a devotee might feel like when seeing Saraswati Devi for the first time. I wanted to capture her majestic energy and divinity. At the same time, Saraswati Devi being the goddess of knowledge and art, i wanted to explore how she might be of a simple nature, preferring her love for music and nature, and how she might not want symbols of external beauty like jewellery. She is the deity to show her divinity by her pure and natural beauty. I wanted the figure of Saraswati Devi to be imposing but also approachable, because knowledge is for everyone. I took major inspiration from the Art Nouveau movement, especially from that of Alphonse Mucha's works. The painting features photo inks, pencils, microns and gold foil.
