Apocalypse

I should've known the first time
I heard your voice fluttering like chimes
Your eyes that could drown my soul
Heralding apocalypse, love, you were my black hole.
The words of Neruda finally made sense
Oh love! Your aroma, so intoxicating and dense
It was like meeting 'Poetry' in person
The closer I inched, my agony would worsen.
Oh your eyes, those beckoning eyes
With a hint of blue though clearer than the skies
Somehow they seemed to hold the key
To the darkest alleys my mind could see.
Oh love! What an amalgamation you were
Of sheer joy and absolute despair
You were the calmness in my storm
Yet also the wind as the halcyon days would swarm.
Like a moth is drawn to the flame
I was now all yours to tame
Like the moon I surrendered to the eclipse
But love, you were my apocalypse.
Though my destiny does seethe
At the memories I cherish
In you I breathe
In you I perish.
