Anything to forget

By Ronah Ganzo

Poverty came in handy to me

Someone take my phone away

I abuse relationships like I would've with beer

Just to I could forget you, I fear.

I wear your clothes like it's nothing

(they melt my skin with our memory)

The keychains look so bland now

(they're still my favorite, don't worry)

The plushy, now dusted and ugly

(I still hug it to sleep)

I want to drown in other women's love

To stop bathing in yours

I’m drinking their tears, basking on

their adoration

So I could forget how yours used to be

my only will to live,.

Poverty may have swayed alcoholism from me

But I'm putting my tombstones on women's hearts

So I could ignore the mausoleum

you've planted in mine

Please take me phone away from me.

I'm about to meet girl #23.
