Antonio's Melancholy

Will we ever recover from this?

Keeping ourselves busy till exhaustion,

To live in denial and to have a mask,

Cheers to the paper laughs ,

With those paper people in a paper life,

One sad song and we are driven to the past,

Drunk from our memories,

Moping about it we feel good,

The warmth of the familiar,

The sweetness of the good things,

Scared from the unknown,

We look in the known, snuggling with our hot cocoa,

In this cycle of life,

Never was the mouse so tired,

Tried did he , and did he get ?

The dangling cheese,

Running on the same roundabout.

And then we sweat through our eyes,

Just like the mouse from its legs,

Yet he does it for survival,

And we do it to ponder ,

To pee on our miseries ,

To use every last drop ,

From the bag of “self pity”

Like a statue in a museum ,

We are looked by everyone ,

Yet understood by none,

They think that they give us life,

Yet they amiss one single detail,

we are cut from alabaster.

Thinking paper laughs are real,

Guessing life will be good ,

Until it pauses for a moment,

And you find out that your soul ,

It took its last breath at the last thoroughfare,

And you say “au revoir”, unapologetically ,

Withering into the cold dark night .
