Another Dawn
By Dhruva Nandakumar
How foolish of man to dissolve in this sense of superiority
The mourning tree asked the man
'What lies for you to plunder, child?'
You robbed the forests of their drape,
you choke on streets with no escape
You think you rule the breathing soil,
the searing flame and seven seas
It turns my very soul to boil
to stand amidst the weeping trees
You shed your blood and wage your wars,
and fight for what was never yours
You thirst to tame the burning sands,
on which your malice barely stands
You wish to mine the twinkling stars
Gifting pain and endless scars
All you see is wood and blade
and crave to scorch the glittering jade
Greed clings to you like winter frost
You fail to see that you have lost
Child, you are but a mere guest
don't slaughter millions in your quest
'Remember son', she sadly sighs
Rob not your kind with crafty lies
This sacred soil you tread upon
Promises another dawn
