And Finally, The Day Is Here...
By Udita Bose
The chirping of the birds echoed, drenched in the rays of the rising sun,
“A new day is here,” and a new beginning for her.
Garlands that settled, hugging her beautiful neck, a tiara around her head,
Draped in her Mother’s nine yards of love, and the ornaments she adorned.
Stepping into her bridal shoes, once more, holding on to her Father’s hand,
“Congratulations!” exclaimed the crowd, jiving to the tunes of her favorite musical band.
Lying ahead was a journey, not so smooth,
Oceans apart, but two hearts in love, and tied through a telephone booth.
Blow into the conch shells, ring the wedding bells,
Tears trickled down her eyes, recalling all the forgotten mails.
Friends and Brothers walked her down the aisle,
Out came the groom, embracing her with love and a heart that always smiles.
Echoes the laughter and the sea behind,
Applauded the parents, with a cheerful mind.
The horizon joined in, with a shade of orange and red,
Dusk is approaching, and it is the time of the leaves to shed.
“Man and Wife,” you are now, in a journey prolonged,
Look ahead, look around, flowers being showered and blessings pouring down.
Vermilion on the forehead, hand in hand they walked,
Still in awe of each other, and the moment that they had hauled.
Slowly sinking in, like the water in the ship,
Weighing them down with emotions, but they know that, it is time to tighten the grip.
A new home for Her, a new culture for Him.
Preserve the happiness in the heart, and the tears, you can trim.
