An Extrovert's Transition
By Anantjit Chander
A vibrant soul with energy so high,
He walks into the school, his spirit flying high.
With a smile so wide and a heart so light,
He greets his peers with all his might.
With excitement in his every word,
He tries to bond with each new herd.
Sharing his stories, laughing with glee,
He longs for friendship, for company.
Days go by, weeks turn to months,
And yet, he still feels like a misfit amongst.
His classmates seem to have made their cliques,
And he's left out with no one to seek.
No one listens, no one cares,
He feels invisible, no one shares.
His once joyous heart now feels so sad,
And he wonders why he even tries so hard.
The teasing stings, the laughter hurts,
He feels like he's lost his own self-worth.
The extrovert has now turned introvert,
Hiding behind a mask, his heart now hurt.
The once bright spark, now dimmed and low,
He's learned to keep his thoughts on the down low.
He's still longing for the friendship he craves,
But the fear of rejection keeps him in his own cave.
He's now a different person, changed and grown,
He's learned to be happy on his own.
His voice is soft, his heart now guarded,
But deep down, his spirit is still uncharted.
The extrovert who joined the school so bright,
Has now transformed into a different light.
The pain of transition has made him grow,
Into someone who's learned to take it slow.
