An Ending
By Lipsa Lopamundra Giri
If I had known acacias sang
I would never have gone where I went
For sought I bells that never rang:
Only mine would be the voice to vent.
Out, the beasts living in my head!
Pouting and pinning me a hundred ways
Away from what lay on my bed
Uncared for, whether it was night or day;
Cooling the cares, the pen had penned
Submerging beneath ice the visions I’d seen:
Oh, all was there, all fled by the bend
Still was left a longing inside just as keen.
Who could say what he’d have done
If the end hadn’t come when it did come?
His allure is that he stopped the run
And what could’ve been won’t ever be home
When the end was nigh a fear gripped
I was in the clutches of all but my sad essence
Which droply from lacerations dripped
Till I lost to madness even your holy presence.
