An Empty Conch

I'm an empty conch.

A part of me is gone altogether.

He took it along with him forever.

Now I'm all alone,

In this desert beside the sea,

With a voice reverberating within me.

When I listen to it closely,

I hear his whisper,

Confessing his mistakes

Like a purging sinner.

But when I try to speak,

I realise

I don't even own a voice.

So I allow it to echo deep within me

And all I hear is mere noise.
